Biking and cycling is huge in Charlotte.  There are a vast number of streets around the city which have bike lanes, and bike trails are everywhere.  The mission of Bike Charlotte is simply to encourage greater use of bicycles in the Charlotte area. They do this thru facilitating bike rides; championing bike advocacy and bike safety; and by supporting area bike shops, clubs, and other organizations that promote cycling.

The U.S. National Whitewater Center features three man-made channels with designer rapids, open to athletes and the public. The center's other amenities include hiking trails, biking trails, bike rentals, raft rentals, kayak rentals, restaurant/bar, camping areas and climbing walls.  The facility is located on 307 acres of Mecklenburg County-owned park land along the Catawba River, just north of Interstate 85.  Rafters pay $15 to $25 to spend up to 90 minutes navigating with a guide. Paddlers can also buy passes for repeat visits.

Nestled on the banks of beautiful Lake Norman are the towns of Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville. These unique towns present a wide array of leisure amenities for visitors and guests including upscale shopping, year-round golfing, fishing and other water activities.  Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake in the Carolinas, is THE place for fun in the sun! Created in 1963 by Duke Energy, Lake Norman is 34 miles long with 520 miles of shoreline.  Lake Norman offers numerous attractions to explore. USTA membership growth and participation in Mecklenburg County during 2004-2007 significantly outpaced national growth.  County membership increased 23%, and league play is up 36%.  Given this explosive growth, the Charlotte metro area offers tennis enthusiasts a wide range of options for players of all ages and abilities.  The Charlotte Tennis Association, in conjunction with USTA, Mecklenburg Parks & Recreation, private clubs and tennis facilities, continually strive to present high quality tennis activities for the Charlotte Community.
